Happy New Year!

Highlights of 2019:

The Biennial Convocation of Seminole War Historians continued last April as the second installment took place at the Brighton Seminole Reservation near Okeechobee. The second Laumer Legacy Award was given posthumously to Billy Cypress, considered by many as the goodwill ambassador for the Seminole Tribe. Click here to learn more.

New publications are available including History of the Third Seminole War (1849-1858) by John and Mary Lou Missall and Joe Knetsch, The Seminole Struggle: A History of America’s Longest Indian War also by John and Mary Lou Missall, and an enhanced edition of Sketch of the Seminole War and Sketches During a Campaign, edited by Debra K. Harper. Click here to check out our online bookstore.

On December 7, the Foundation held a brief membership meeting at Fort King during the Fourth Annual Fight for Freedom: Attack on Fort King.

Shared Losses

The Foundation sadly reports the loss of two longtime board members. Frank Laumer, one of our two co-founders, passed away on November 18. Harley Gilmore passed away on December 7. We are so grateful for each of them, for their friendship, passion, and dedication. They are greatly missed.

As we move forward into 2020, please join us and help support our mission of preservation, education and publication of Seminole Wars history.
