Frank Laumer Legacy Award

The Frank Laumer Legacy Award seeks to honor those who exemplify curiosity, inspiration, tenacity, and perseverance in the field of Seminole Wars history and research.

This award is named in honor of one of the Foundation’s creators, Frank Laumer. To read more about his contribution, click here.

The first recipient of the Frank Laumer Legacy Award was Frank Laumer himself, presented in August 2017 at the first biennial Convocation of Seminole War Historians.

The second recipient of the award was Billy L. Cypress (1942-2004), accepted by Mr. Cypress’s wife, Carol Cypress, at the 2019 Convocation held in Okeechobee, Fla.

The third recipient was Richard Procyk, author of Guns Across the Loxahatchee, presented prior to the 2022 Convocation held in Jupiter, Fla.

The Foundation looks forward to continuing to honor those who raise awareness of this important part of American history.
